A Successful Book Launch and A Minor Surgery
My latest novel, The Book of The Most Precious Substance, is available now, literally while I type this, at a very good number of bookstores. As of yesterday, this is my best-selling book launch yet, and first-week sales are about double what they were for my last book. Tonight is my favorite event of every book tour, a talk with my friend Patrick Milikin at the Poisoned Pen. It’s virtual, so please join from wherever you are. The best way to keep up with events is to follow Dreamland Books on twitter @dreamland108 or follow me on instagram or visit our website, dreamland-books.com.
In a stroke of, um, some kinda timing, I broke my ankle a few weeks ago, and had some fairly intense surgery one week ago, in which screws, plates, etc, were inserted/attached to said ankle bones to make them functional again. What exciting antics was I up to when this break broke? I was walking. In the park. Broken in three places. Won’t make that mistake again! The firemen who came to pick me up, at the cost of approx. 40 million dollars to the city of Los Angeles, told me to tell people I broke it fighting off a mountain lion, but I don’t think I can pull that off.
The pain is much less than I imagined, but the exhaustion is much worse. I have about two hours of energy every day, and about two hours of book events lined up, so that works out well, but it’s hard to do all the marketing, pr, etc, I should be doing for the book. If you liked the book, and spend some time on the internet, a social media mention, Amazon review, goodreads rave, etc, is VERY appreciated. And it makes a stellar Valentine’s Day gift, especially if you want to have sex after that expensive dinner.
I appreciate you guys more than I can say, and I could not have published this book without you. But I need to take a six hour nap after writing this, so that’s all for now. Better newsletter coming soon!
